General Eligibility - 61st Coupe Mondiale, 2008
  • There is no limit of numbers of candidates from each country.
  • Candidates up to 32 years of age are allowed to enter the competition - year of birth, born 1976 or later. All entrants are required to provide proof of age and nationality (Passport) when they register at the Coupe Mondiale.

Candidates Program - Coupe Mondiale, 2008
  • INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR ACCORDION SOLOISTS (COUPE MONDIALE) 2008. There will be three (3) rounds.
Round I - Test Round

The candidate must perform the 2008 Test Round including the following three pieces:

  • Any Baroque work.
  • Own Choice Program: The candidate must select a program consisting of two (2) pieces, one piece to be of a slower, lyrical style* and the other piece to be of a technical virtuosic style**. At least one (1) of these Own Choice pieces must be an original work for accordion.
     * Examples of the slower, lyrical style: Kalina Krasnaia by Semionov, Romance by Angelis, Vocalise by Rachmaninov, Aria by Bach etc...
    ** Examples of the technical virtuosic style: Caprice by Paganini, a fast Sonata by Scarlatti, Finale of 1st Sonata by Kusjakov etc...
  • Individual movements from cyclic works are acceptable. Playing time for Round I: maximum 20 minutes. Failure to observe maximum playing time will result in a mark penalty.

Round I music must be played in one sitting and may be played in any order. Candidates will be judged equally on each of the three parts of Round I.
 

Round II - Complete Original Work
  • One complete original work for the accordion. (suggested minimum playing time: 10 minutes)
Round III - Own Choice Program
  • Own Choice program consisting of three (3) or more pieces of different style and character.
  • Playing time: minimum 20 minutes to maximum 30 minutes. Failure to observe minimum or maximum playing time will result in a mark penalty.

1st Prize: Euro 1,000.00
2nd Prize: Euro 600.00
3rd Prize: Euro 400.00
   
  • All candidates will receive a Diploma of Participation.
  • First Prize Winner will receive a Concert Tour to Portugal hosted by the CIA Member 'Conservatorio Regional de Castelo Branco - CRCB', including a minimum of three concerts in Portugal.
  • First Prize Winner will receive a Concert Tour to Finland hosted by the CIA Member 'Suomen Harmonikkaliitto - SHL' (Finnish Accordion Association), including a minimum of three concerts in Finland.
  • National member associations are requested to offer concerts or a tour for the 1st Prize Winners.
  • All winners must be present in person at the Awards Ceremony in appropriate attire suitable for press coverage and publicity appearances. In case of absence, the prize may be accepted by a delegate of their country or the Diplomas will be mailed by the Secretariat.
