Welcome to Salzburg
With many of the CIA Executive Team, Delegates, Jury members and guests travelling from around the world, quite a few took the opportunity to visit the beauitufl city of Salzburg prior to the commencement of the Coupe Mondiale festival. |
Hohensalzburg Fortress: Located on top of a mountain, the Festung offers breath-taking views of Salzburg and the Alps. One area of the fortress offers visitors the chance to look down on a field below to find only one house, the executioner's residence. It was believed to live anywhere near the executioner was bad luck. Inside the fortress is a museum of medieval weapons, life on the fortress, and torture instruments. |

Mirabell Palace Reception
The City of Salzburg hosted CIA Delegates and members of the International Jury to a civic reception at the stunning Mirabell Palace. Mirabell Palace (German: Schloss Mirabell) is a historical building in the heart of Salzburg. The palace with its gardens is a listed cultural heritage monument and part of the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several scenes from The Sound of Music were recorded here. Maria and the children sing 'Do-Re-Mi' while dancing around the horse fountain and using the steps as a musical scale. |
