  • For two (2) to five (5) musicians, minimum one accordion (e.g., can be multiple accordions, or accordions with other instruments).
  • Ensemble Music competition is for acoustic instruments (no electronics). All accordions must be acoustic reed instruments. No MIDI accordions are allowed. One bass accordion may be amplified; however, the candidate must provide their own amplifier.
  • Own Choice Program of concert music consisting of at least two (2) pieces with contrasting style.
  • The competition organizers will not provide instruments other than a piano tuned to A 442.
  • Playing time: minimum 15 minutes to maximum 20 minutes playing time. Failure to observe minimum or maximum playing time will result in a mark penalty.
  • Marking will take into consideration program choice, level of playing and ensemble work.

OWN CHOICE PROGRAM ONLY: Own Choice Show/Entertainment Program.

  • Playing time: maximum 15 minutes. Failure to observe the maximum playing time will result in a mark penalty.
  • External sound modules, MIDI modules, backing tracks including SMF, audio files, CD or MP3 player etc. may be used. The organiser will provide a mixer sound system with a mixer plug-in for 1 or 2 channels and a single power plug (local plug) of 230 volts. The candidate must provide all other equipment.
  • Rehearsal time of up to 15 minutes per candidate will be scheduled prior to the competition.
  • Performance sound set up time - maximum 2 minutes. Performance sound break down - maximum 2 minutes.
  • All types and make of digital accordion may be used and bellows must be the primary volume control of the digital sounds. Digital accordions with acoustic sounds are permitted with the reeds amplified provided the candidate uses the accordion and bellows to make substantial use of digital sounds.
  • To assist the candidates in preparing their programs, please note that the adjudicators marks will take into account:
    -Originality and creativity of program
    -Technique/playing ability
    -Musicality
    -Digital Usage eg: multiple voices, multiple sounds, programing of sound sets, correct sound useage. Look for effective use of many of the digital instrument capabilities plus creativity factors.
    -Creativity eg: additional equipment such as - computer, effects box, looping - multi tracking and backing tracks, exploiting instrument possibilities, customising settings. Effective use of technologies.
    -Structure eg: planned programing, adaption for digital instrument.
    -Stagecraft, charisma, performance presentation.
    -Candidates playing on a digital instrument, in the same way they would perform on an acoustic accordion, without good digital usage, are not making effective use of digital technology and that should refelct in the marks with higher marks to candidates with good digital usage, creativity and structure.

    "Fisorchestra Luciano Fancelli" Conductor: M° Marco Gatti
    Founded in 1989, the orchestra aims to promote the music around the world of the composer Luciano Fancelli, from Umbria.

  • “ORQUESTRA DE ACORDEON DE BRUSQUE”
    "Orquestra de Acoreon de Brusque" Conductor: M° Bruno Moritz. Coming all the way from Santa Catarina State to Spoleto, to present their traditional music of southern Brazil.

  • ACCORDION ENSEMBLE “CONCERTINO”
    The ensemble, based in Moldova, comprising seven accordions, bass, piano and drums, will perform famous pieces from the classic, popular and jazz repertoire.
     
    L’ensemble di origine Moldova, composto da sette fisarmoniche, un contrabbasso, un pianoforte e una batteria, si esibirà in alcuni famosi brani del repertorio classico, leggero e jazz.

  • Premio "Paolo Soprani" Now in its third edition, the Paolo Soprani prize will be awarded by Mirco Soprani, Mayor of Castelfidardo, and Vincenzo Canali, President of the nternational Accordion Museum of Castelfidardo.

    Conducted by M° Torsten Petzold, the German accordion orchestra will play a variety of classical pieces, original compositions and arrangements from well known repertoire.

  • “WORLD ACCORDION ORCHESTRA” (WAO VI)
    Conductors: M° Joan Sommers and M° Torsten Petzold. Founded by Joan C. Sommers for the CIA, for the sixth time, competitors in the Coupe Mondiale, delegates, friends and members of the Jury will join together forming the largest Accordion Orchestra in the world.
