Video - Thursday Night Coupe Mondiale Concert

7 pm Thursday 30th October, Karajan-Saal

Thursday Night Concert: Part 1

Trio Akk:zent
Paul Schuberth (accordion)
Johannes Münzner (accordion)
Victoria Pfeil (saxophone)
It was something like musical love at first sight when the two accordionists Paul Schuberth and Johannes Münzner met each other at the accordion workshop of Professor Friedrich Lips in Imst. A similar understanding of music and the admiration for the same role models brought Paul and Johannes together and still influence their compositions.

Together with Victoria Pfeil, a highly skilled musician playing the four Saxophone types, the new trio broadens the horizon of the listener for innovative ideas of sound and harmony where their music touches accordion-techno-creation, pop is camouflaged as ironically jumping jazz and atonal and orchestral sounds alternate permanently.

Thursday Night Concert: Part 2

[:klak:]
Stefan Kollmann (accordion)
Markus Fellner (clarinet)
Pronounced "clack", [: klak:] refers to the auditory and visual synthesis of two instruments that could not be more different. Markus Fellner (clarinet, percussion) and Stefan Kollmann (accordion) are mixing a musical cocktail beyond stereotypes and norms, spiced together with a good dose of groove.

The program offers an unusual stylistic diversity of original compositions and transcriptions in the fields of jazz, baroque, tango, new musette and contemporary music. Listeners are invited to dive into a uniquely different concert event!

Thursday Night Concert: Part 3

Remembering the Coupe Mondiale, 44 years ago
Wolfgang Dimetrik (classical accordion)
This exceptional musician, hailing from Austria, was born in 1974. He already had his first instruction in accordion at the age of six from Franz Maurer. At eleven years old, he entered the class taught by Prof. Mag. Erwin Moder at the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory for Music in Graz. Six years later he began his studies at the Institute of Music in Graz with Guest Prof. Mogens Ellegard, James Crabb and Geir Draugsvoll. He obtained his diploma there in 1996, and then moved with a stipend to Würzburg in Prof. Stefan Hussong’s class. He obtained the artistic diploma with honours in 2001, and took in 2003 that most regal of all courses, a master class.

At the relatively young age of 24 he was offered a teaching position at the Professional School of Music in Altötting in Bavaria. He has taught there since then in the departments of accordion, accordion/chamber music, methodology, history of performance and the literature, didactics of accordion and music pedagogy.

After numerous master classes around the world, he now concentrates on very well known contemporary ensembles and new works for accordion.

Wiener Akkordeon-Kammer-Ensemble
Werner Weibert - Director
Video music: Rondo from "A little Nightmusic" by W.A.Mozart

The Viennese Accordion Chamber Accordion Ensemble was founded in 1967 by Prof. Walter Maurer, well known as a central figure of the CIA while serving several key positions, including as General Secretary from 1975-2006.

The ensemble, directed by Werner Weibert comprises the best soloists in Austria and virtually has remained together ever since. One of the secrets of this lasting success is consistency. The repertoire contains all styles and epochs. More than half of their standard programs are compositions from Vivaldi, Bach to Mozart and Mussorgsky, from Johann Strauss to Gershwin, Bernstein, Piazzolla and many more.

Success was also achieved through performances of original music by Rudolf Wuerthner, Brehme, Schollum, Jacobi, Dobler or Seiber, just to mention a few.
